Free markets and trade solves a lot of problems

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

We want to do good in the world and reduce human suffering; two problems we want to eradicate most around the world are poverty and war.

The best way to do this is by working to (and help others who are working to) establish economic liberty, the rule of law, property rights and free markets in these countries, and between your country and these countries – even countries that are politically different than the U.S.  The reason is that free markets allow people to pull themselves out of poverty, and prosperous people tend to be peaceful.

But Larry; what can be done about the dictators who are totally focused on their own self-interest, and not the people who put them there? Those Governmental tyrants can only survive if they keep their people in abject poverty and as educated fools. How does the world get them out, with no more war?

My senior year H.S. economics teacher had a similar line, “If goods don’t cross borders, armies will.” Thanks for sharing daily.
