Developing your kids' beliefs

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Kids will believe what they are repeatedly told by their parents. Sure, often they will develop their own beliefs about things as they get older, but often ideas stick, particularly ideas about themselves.

What do your kids believe about themselves?  What do they believe about the world?  I think one of the greatest gifts we can give our kids is believing in their own abilities, talents, and giftedness.  Growing up believing YOU can do anything if you will only decide and work hard enough for it is critical, and will determine what they will even try.

People manifest their beliefs.  What beliefs are your kids picking up from you?

My parents instilled this belief in me and it has proven itself more than one time in my life.
I didn’t appreciate it at the time but I do now.

Larry- your Grandfather, Ted Janesky, my Dad, surely instilled in us the value of working hard to achieve goals. He always had two jobs- one full- time and one part-time, plus found the time to grow amazing vegetables for his growing family.
He always said to us, “Work your full schedule, then give a little bit more”. He felt this would give job security. What boss would ever let go such a hard and industrious worker?
As kids, we knew we would always get his approval as we showed him the money we earned.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, one of my all time favorite books, I read many years ago, and have never been the same since! It is a treasure!

Larry and other followers of “Think Daily” I must say that after I read the Alchemist I understood alot of things about going after your personal legend, and a greater insight of what part the heart plays…
