Can you do more valuable work than the work your company does? In other words, if I own a painting company, I likely started out as a painter. If I take 5,000 brush strokes in a day, that’s worth a given amount. But can I do work that is more valuable than that as the owner of a painting company?
The answer is yes. I could recruit and train other painters, I could sell lots of work, or create new systems my team can use to deliver my services over many years in a way that clients would value more. Of course, I’d have to learn how to do this and want to.
The idea that we are confined to doing whatever it is our company does is a trap that most entrepreneurs are in. But businesses are the greatest multiplication, magnification and leverage tool ever created IF we know how to do it right.
Transcend from “self employment” to “business owner”.
