I had a new salesman in training who quit a month in because he “needed a steady paycheck”. This guy was thinking he wanted a floor to his income, and what he’ll get is a ceiling (if/when he gets another job).
Straight commission sales is a way to be an entrepreneur and have no ceiling on your income without all the hassle, risk and responsibility of owning a company. (A business owner can lose money/everything, a salesperson can’t lose.)
Yes, you have to be with a good company selling a great product (that’s us!). You have to believe in yourself, become a learning machine, and get out there everyday and interact with people with total belief and confidence in your product.
Straight commission sales is a great career!
Hm……… That sounds pretty good Larry! I’m getting tired of being the salesman for all my subs and taking all the risk ! And no locked in profit( or pay:))
Love the slightly longer format…always thoughtful.
Thanks for doing these.
Love the insightful way of looking at things
Keep that quiet, I enjoy making all the money!!! Advice for a commission sales rep, don’t let the other departments know how much you make, it can cause jealousy.
All kidding aside, great career choice, great money and great freedom!!!
Preach, brotha!
Honest sales people reap the best benifit for the short and the long term. Making the money is the byproduct. Yes having a genuine product and being a genuine person always prevails. Wish more people thought this way Larry.
“Think long term gain not short term reward”
We all are on commission. When the sales stop Nobody get paid. Been on commission for 20+ years and Love it
