This may be the most important message some entrepreneurs ever read.
Some people have achieved a lot, but still aren’t happy. This is because they compare themselves to their ideal (life, business, accomplishments). They are always reaching, and when they get it, they reach for more. This is a great attitude to keep you moving forward, but in thinking about it all each day and determining how happy you should be, it doesn’t work.
Instead, compare yourself to WHERE YOU STARTED. How does it feel to be here and have accomplished this much in relation to where you came from? That’s what matters.
In thinking of it this way, it’s easy to be happy.
I had a crew on an insurance restoration job last week ripping out wet drywall – homeowner says – ” you know who did that work you’re tearing apart- Larry Janesky – he was just a kid now he’s all things basementy!”
Perspective is amazingly freeing!
I say that all the time Larry. I started with a toolbox a small truck and did road service. I’m so proud to be where I am now,a fleet of equipment. Lots of help and awesome customers. What else would I want? Thanks for think daily. I apply your advice everyday!!!!
Larry, I think this has been the best one you’ve had so far. I saved it to my desktop and digested it for several days before commenting. Your dead on about this one and it really hit home for me. I started with little as well but what got me here won’t get me there; and so the cycle begins again. I will be sure to reflect more often now. Thanks for everything you’ve done to help expand my thinking.
