The idea behind “social justice” is that everyone is entitled to a certain amount of stuff. If they don’t have it, it should be taken from those that have the stuff, and given to those who don’t. Justice?
What amount of stuff everyone should have? This idea will require a powerful and coercive government to take the stuff from the producers and give it to the non-producers. If enough stuff is taken from the producers and given to the non-producers that both groups now have an equal amount of stuff, why would any non-producer want to start producing if they get stuff anyway? And why would the producers want to keep producing if their stuff keeps getting taken away? Where would the stuff come from then? There wouldn’t be much stuff for anyone then.
Social “Justice” is just another way of saying “Socialism”, and history has shown again and again, it doesn’t work.
In a free society, with free markets, peace, property rights, limited government and the rule of law, anyone who wants some stuff, can produce value for others to get it – and that works.
Unification act????
Spot on Larry
Can we walk into the light and have our shadows behind us ?
Who is John Galt?
Jane Miller
Totally agree with you Larry. Why should producers get punished for achieving?
Enjoyed the Owner’s Summit! Have a good one
Amen
Well Said!
Would it be possible to forward this to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave? I believe they could use some basic econ information. Need only look to the pilgrims for this basic lesson. Oh that is right, they do not teach that part of the experiment in the new world in school any longer.
Sounds like a certain “system” that I pay into every week….
AMEN! to all of the STUFF you just said Larry 🙂
This would make a great Econ lesson for kids beginning in elementary school. We have to educate the young to think differently to change the future!
There is this theory that if all the money in the world was equally divided among everyone in a matter of time the money would end up as it is now in the hands of those who earned it Go figure Thanks Larry have a great day
Absolutely 100% correct. Just try to live in the new South Africa, where ONLY 4% of the population pay meaningful tax. Now days the schools teach this “social justice” nonsense. How else will the government get the vote? Not by improving the economy, but by making people parasites.
Well said. Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, pretty much addresses this type of thinking of socialism, in her novel. Finally the producers, inventors all just quit and leave their society to implode on itself!
Larry,
What you said should be a commercial, on billboards, posted on community boards and blasted on radio stations all accross the country!
thank you for your comment. Send me more.
Read “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand.
Larry,
I do enjoy your encouragement, yet there is something about this that I need clarification on. Social Justice, to me, is helping those who do not have a voice or are being abused and need someone to stand up for them. Example: women who are abused, human trafficking, those who are not given what they have earned. Welfare is not social justice, enabling people is not social justice. Those things are socializm and maybe you should use a different example or wording. People who earn do have a responsibility to help those who have a hard time helping themselves. Taking time to help others gives you more purpose and drive to continue to do what you are good at. I think we need more social justice and less socialism. Plus social justice is privately run and socialism is state run.
Thank you for letting me comment.
Right on. Why can’t the pinheads in Washington understand? All they have to do is look at history.
Mike makes a good point, broad brush statements are not helpful.
There are those who truly need help. The difference is that all people are not able to rise to the same level. This is natural and taking from one to give to another (with exceptions noted in Mikes Note) is socialism and does nothing to create the greater good.
