Why I make typos on Think Daily

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

I could tell you that I have fat fingers.  I could say I don’t proofread.  I could tell you that my program has such small type and I borderline need glasses (partially true now).  I could say I am ignorant and can’t spell well (mostly untrue).  I could say I don’t care (very untrue – intelligent communication is an important skill you need to advance in life).

The real reason is one I believe in most of all.  I do a lot – cramming the most into each day.  If we wait for things to be perfect, we’ll do less in life.  I’d rather speak imperfectly, than to not speak for fear I may make a mistake.

That’s good advice – I thnik.

I had a boss who said if you’re not making mistakes, you are not working hard enough”.

I post think daily in our factory daily. I fix the typos first. I also write many work instructions and procedures. I too cram a lot into each day and make many typos. I will post this think daily and hope those that have made negitive comments about my typos will now think before they express themselves. Thank you Larry !

Brad

Prospective. Hmm thanks Larry

Mike Mitchell

Good is the enemy of great but —

Perfection can be the enemy of excellence if the pursuit of perfection keeps you from doing great things.

That is great advice. I tend to stress over written communications and do very often take too much time stressing to get the message out.
Thank you for this great reminder. And Mike Mitchell thanks for your thoughts as well. I think I’ll print that and post it where I can see it frequently.
Have a Blessed day!

So True.
If you try to make it perfect, something will be missed because nothing is perfect in life anyway and waiting is not progress.

Andrea

I thnik so as well.
