Capitalists are like altruists because they MUST look to the needs of others to be successful.
There are a lot of capitalists out there improving the standard of living for others.

The statement that a capitalist is like an altruist is completely false.
A capitalist can be an altruist. In fact, as you know, some of the greatest capitalists in history were also the greatest altruists in history. A capitalist never helps anyone without a vested interest. They look to help others as a way of making money. They improve other people’s standard of living, yes, as long as that person is worth the money they are paying them. A return on investment.
Altruism is giving without any reward or return on investment. I give blood to help others, not to make money. That is an altruistic act. Giving food to the food shelter or donating clothes to the homeless shelter can be altruistic also as long as you don’t do it solely as a tax write off. Donating you time to a worthy cause because it helps others is definitely altruistic. There is no money made by an altruist. It is selfless.
I read both of your “Think Daily” posts every day and have taken a lot of great ideas from them. This just bothered me to my very core beliefs and had to say something. I definitely do not mean any disrespect.

Tim, I am not saying altruism and capitalism are the same. I said that both need to look to the needs of others. In that way they are the same.

And Tim, I’m not sure where you got the definition of capitalist. You don’t have to have a lot of money property etc to be a capitalist. It’s just definitions were quibbling about. The idea is valid no matter what you call it.
An altruist may help people who have no money – that same person a capitalist may not be interested in as a customer because they can’t pay for their product or services. But all people need assistance, even people with money. Capitalists and altruists may have difference audiences, but both need to look to the needs of others.

And you are completely right about time management and responding to messages. It is impossible to keep up with them and having a schedule is the only way to have a life.
