Sometimes we say we’re behind an idea or mission, but we’re only casually involved and would bail if things got tough.
It’s like breakfast – the chicken was involved, but the pig was committed.

I have loved this saying for years. I learned it as “the chicken is interested, but the pig is committed.” It is one way to measure how much stock one should put in advice. This also tests ones loyalty. Are people just mercenaries or are they missionaries. One works for money, the other from the heart.
