In 1915 Federal spending was $715 million, or 2% of Gross Domestic Product. Today, it is $3.172 trillion, or 23.2% of GDP – more than ten times larger relative to the size of the economy. In addition, citizens have hungry state and local budgets to pay for.
Is this what we want as Americans? How far will it go? How much is too much?
Its already gone too far – the question is how to reverse it. If you shrink the problem down to a small business or personal level – too much debt and not enough income is unsustainable – reduce your expenses or increase your income or hopefully both or you fold . The reality is that most in that situation fold.
To get out you need a strong committed leader that is going to make decisions that cause short term pain and the majority don’t want or understand the need for that .
We cannot continue this…coupled with just plain bad government run by neophytes.
Eric Cantor is an example of the people saying “enough” Outspent his opponent by 2.5xs and still lost. Perfect example of how substance trumps money every day of the week. Hopefully a sign of better things to come
